Tuckpointing your chimney is necessary when you start to notice dark mortar joints or moss with minimal cracking. Mike's Masonry will be honest with you about the condition your chimney is in, and what services are really needed to correct it.
The chimney cap is normally the root of all chimney problems. From the 1950’s – 2000’s chimney caps were made out of mortar. Mortar serves its purpose when bonding brick and masonry together but is not the best choice to cap a chimney with.
When our team inspects a chimney we look for any signs of damage, from damaged mortar to hairline cracks, our team will report any issue. Our team will only recommend a full rebuild if it is vulnerable to a chimney fire and beyond repair with simple materials. If the structural integrity of your chimney is bad we may recommend a rebuild.
